Excessive valve clearance can lead to several consequences in an engine. First, it can cause a decrease in engine performance and power, as the valves may not open and close at the correct times. This can also lead to poor fuel efficiency and increased emissions. Additionally, excessive valve clearance can cause a tapping or knocking noise in the engine, and in extreme cases, it can lead to valve damage or failure. Therefore, it is important to regularly check and adjust valve clearances to ensure proper engine function. **
